Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas made his first trip to Washington since the infamous White House snub in January. For those unaware of the drama, when the Bruins were invited to the White House as part of winning last year’s Stanley Cup. Thomas, the team’s lone American last season and playoff MVP, explained his decision on his Facebook page by saying: “I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People.”

So in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference series in Washington, Capitals fans at the Verizon Center took center stage taunting Thomas with Barack Obama masks, a parody of the famous “Hope” Obama poster saying ” HOPE: You Get Pulled” and over-sized Obama heads.
The distraction didn’t result in a win for the Capitals, as the Bruins won 4-3 to take a 2-1 series lead. Still, kudos to the Caps fans for a clever way to try to get under Thomas’ skin.
